New Shuttle at Gatwick Airport

A new shuttle has been officially launched on the last Thursday at the Gatwick Airport, which is the London’s 2nd largest international airport.

A NASA astronaut has took a small step for its launch and James Van Hoften, Gatwick’s board member, along with passengers and staff has joined together for the launch of the new shuttle.

It is the first new inter-terminal shuttle at the Gatwick airport which not only transfers the passengers between North and south terminals, but also modernizes the airport as well as improves the passenger’s experience.

The chief executive of the airport, Stewart Wingate has said on Thursday that “it is an important milestone, as we compete to make the Gatwick airport, a choice for airlines and passengers.”

He also added that “it is the testimony of the skill and hard work put up by the teams involved for building it and now the shuttle is running for the passengers ahead of the busy summer time and with the new facilities, it will go from strength to strength.”

The new shuttle is a £43 million project involved in the installation of an absolutely new shuttle system, renovation of the track, new shuttle cars and in the makeover of the two terminal stations.

As a part of the airport’s £1 billion investment, the new state of the art shuttle also includes live journey information, extra seating, sensor that counts the number of passengers waiting, CCTV cameras on board and full accessibility for the disabled passengers, enabling the passengers to love to use the Gatwick airport.
